Yesterday night, I was browsing YouTube for videos on how to play John Mayer's The heart of Life song with my guitar. I saw quite a few and now have an idea of how it is done. I have pretty much the sequence of the technique tackled down. One day I may actually play it while keeping the left fingers on the strings where they belong. Why that song? because it as a straightforward reminder that the essence of life is good, something that is not very easy to keep in sight, specially when hard times knock our doors. For what the lyrics say, I imagine that a boyfriend is breaking up with his girlfriend and telling her that there are way too many things out there that are worth being happy for. Saying that yes, their relationship may have not been what they expected but she has to move on even if that's the hardest thing she would ever have to do. Basically, that things happen for a good reason. Of course, this may apply for other situations in life as well. It makes sense to think that things that deeply hurt us at some point let us appreciate the happier moments even more, later. And, it may be true, maybe whatever glues this universe together has good intentions. I'm curios to know what other people think about the lyrics of this song. There are so many interpretations, its quite fascinating.
